Enschede, April 7, 2016 − Chris Baars has assumed office as Managing Director of sister companies ODS2 and Bazoeka. In his new position Baars will be responsible for furthering both companies’ market positions, both nationally and internationally. In addition he will focus on maintaining relationships with important existing customers.
Selling virtual products − the order of the day at ODS2 and Bazoeka − is nothing new to Chris Baars, who gained plenty of relevant experience with previous employers. He considers his new position an interesting career step. “Distributing services is a profession in its own right. Virtual items are considerably harder to sell than physical products. I’ve known this business ever since I became active in the consumer market in my student days. Later on, since 2007, I’ve been able to expand my knowledge working in various capacities at KPN. As Managing Director of ODS2 and Bazoeka I can take full advantage of my experience and the network I’ve acquired, while at the same time further broadening my expertise.”
Industry knowledge and affinity have been decisive arguments for choosing Baars as Managing Director, says Edwin Poorthuis, CEO at ODS2/Bazoeka. “Chris has valuable experience and is perfectly at home in our business and market. We’ve known each other for years − when he was Manager Channel Management at KPN, Bazoeka was in his domain of responsibility. There were several connections. The sum total of all those factors made Chris the logical choice, really.”
After finishing his Business Engineering studies Chris Baars (1975) got a General Business degree at Nyenrode Business University. He started his professional career with Siemens Consumer Products. After a spell as Account Manager at Vodafone Nederland he moved on to KPN B.V. As Manager Channel Management at KPN Baars was eventually in charge of three teams sharing the responsibility for sales and distribution strategies within the KPN, Hi, and Telfort stores and the external (r)etail sales channels.
ODS2 is an international developer and supplier of complex software applications, such as (retail) sign-up systems, reporting tools, and data registration software. The company has branches in The Netherlands, Canada, United States, and Dubai. Clients include KPN, Microsoft, Acer, Philips, Logitech, LG, Pentagon, Hamilton Bright, MediaMarkt, and CanalDigitaal. Deloitte Fast50 listed ODS2 on several occasions as one of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in The Netherlands and EMEA.
